QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: Reports have emerged of four men from Turbat going missing in separate incidents near Sorab in Balochistan, including Aamir Gichki of Koshk Malikabad and his companion, as well as two brothers from Dasht-e-Kohak. Their families have appealed for their safe recovery.
According to family sources, Aamir Gichki, son of Shabbir Ahmed Gichki and a resident of Koshk Malikabad, Turbat, left for Quetta by car on the morning of Friday, Aug. 21, at around 8 a.m. for family-related work. He was accompanied by Ali Muhammad, son of Abdullah, a resident of Hoshab currently residing in Absar, Turbat.
Sources said Gichki’s last contact with his family was around 3:30 p.m., when he informed them he had reached near Sorab. Contact with both men was lost shortly after and no information about their whereabouts has emerged since.
Separately, two brothers from Dasht-e-Kohak, also residents of Turbat, had left Karachi for Quetta by car on Aug. 23. Contact with them was similarly lost after they reached the vicinity of Sorab, bringing the total number of missing persons from Turbat in the area to four.
Sources said that during the period in question, reports had emerged of roadblocks and snap-checking operations being conducted by both security forces and armed men in the Sorab area. This has led the families to fear that all four men may have been abducted along with their vehicles. However, the exact circumstances surrounding their disappearance and those responsible have not yet been confirmed.
