Quetta: Condemnation is mounting over the forcible disappearance of prominent Baloch activist Gulzadi Baloch, who was reportedly detained by Pakistani security forces from her home without a warrant or formal charges.
BNM Chairman Dr. Naseem Baloch, in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), said that Gulzadi’s only “crime” was being a Baloch, a Baloch who dared to speak up, to demand dignity, rights and freedom in a region increasingly described as a militarized zone.
The arrest and disappearance have drawn sharp criticism from human rights defenders, political voices, and civil society members. Observers describe the move as part of Pakistan’s ongoing crackdown on the Baloch people’s right to protest and freedom of assembly, an effort to silence dissent in Balochistan.
Dr. Naseem Baloch further stated, “We call on human rights organizations and international voices to speak now, before more voices are disappeared.”
