Turbat. Sohail Abdullah, a young man who was forcibly disappeared from the town of Tump, has been unaccounted for the past five months. The recent death of his father, Sohail’s family held a press conference and appeal to raise awareness about their plight.
Sohail Abdullah, who hails from the Dasan Kech district, was enforcedly dissappeared on October 11, 2024. Despite the passage of five months, there has been no trace of him. His family has been consistently raising their voices for his recovery, but so far, there has been no any information regarding him.
They stated that Sohail is a psychiatric patient and was undergoing regular treatment. He had previously been a victim of enforced disappearance, having been released a month after being dissappearedfrom Tump Dasan in 2022, during which he faced severe physical and mental torment.
Sohail Abdullah had suffered an accident while traveling from Gwadar to Turbat, falling from a truck and breaking both his hands and feet. After the accident, he was in critical condition and required ongoing medical treatment.
Following the accident, Sohail was taken by his relatives to Bahman for appropriate care. However, he was forcibly disappeared from there on October 11, 2024.
According to the family, four other young men were also enforcedly dissappeared alongside Sohail in Bahman but were released after four months. However, Sohail Abdullah remains missing. This uncertainty has caused the family great distress.
They shared that Sohail’s father was under severe mental stress due to his son’s disappearance and passed away a month ago. He waited day and night, hoping for his son’s recovery.
The family of Sohail Abdullah has called on human rights organizations, civil society, and the United Nations to play a role in his recovery. They expressed that keeping a psychiatric patient and a physically weak young man missing is a serious violation of human rights.
We are extremely worried about Sohail’s life because he is not a normal person and is severely ill. If he remains missing any longer, we will face serious threats regarding his health.
