QUETTA, BALOCHSITAN: Attacks on Pakistani forces reported in Chagai, Washuk and Panjgur

An explosion targeted Pakistani security forces this morning at Hokani in the Paroom area of Balochistan’s Panjgur district, according to local reports. Helicopters were seen flying over the area afterward.

On Sunday, an armoured vehicle in a convoy of Pakistani forces was hit by a bomb blast at Chehtar in Chagai, on the Quetta-Taftan trade highway. The vehicle was damaged. Convoys of commercial vehicles were stopped until late at night.

Reports say forces fired heavily and shelled various directions with mortars in the area and several people forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces.

In a separate incident the same day, armed men ambushed a convoy of Pakistani forces travelling in buses on the CPEC route at Armagay in Washuk.

According to reports, several personnel were killed and wounded. Officials confirmed the death of one soldier, Naik Salam, and injuries to 12 others.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks so far. Baloch pro-independence armed groups are active in these areas.
