KECH, BALOCHISTAN: The family of Ikram Saleem, a resident of Sami in Kech district, has demanded information about his whereabouts and his immediate release, saying he was picked up by unidentified armed men on September 23.
Speaking at a press conference at the Turbat Press Club, relatives said Ikram, described as a young man who works at a barbershop, is innocent and has no connection to any negative activity. They described him as a peaceful citizen who has done nothing wrong.
According to the family, Ikram was taken on Wednesday, September 23, by unidentified men travelling in a vehicle.
Relatives said an elder brother of Ikram has joined an organisation, but stressed that the family has no link to him and is not responsible for his actions. They appealed that any grievance against the elder brother should not be met with punishment for the younger brother or the wider family.
The family said they had approached the local administration and a camp of Pakistani forces in Sami but had received no satisfactory response so far.
Relatives demanded to be told where Ikram is being held and who detained him. They said that if he is accused of any crime, he should be produced before a court and dealt with under the law rather than punished without cause. They added that authorities are free to investigate their mobile phone numbers and other contacts if necessary.
The family called on the government and relevant institutions to provide information about Ikram and to recover him immediately and hand him over to his relatives.
