QUETTA: Train service between Quetta and Peshawar has been suspended once again, railway officials confirmed on Sunday, amid an ongoing pattern of security-related disruptions to rail travel in Balochistan.
According to railway officials, the Jaffar Express service from Quetta to Peshawar has been cancelled for today, Sunday. Meanwhile, the Peshawar-to-Quetta Jaffar Express will be limited to Jacobabad, from where it will be sent back rather than continuing on to Quetta.
Train service suspensions in Balochistan have become increasingly routine due to security concerns. Trains traveling from Quetta to various cities across Pakistan have repeatedly been halted within Balochistan’s boundaries, with officials citing concerns over the presence of security forces personnel traveling aboard the trains and the risk of attacks on rail services in Balochistan.
