QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: State Has Turned Baloch Identity into a Symbol of Suspicion: Says Dr Sabiha Baloch
In a video message Dr. Sabiha Baloch, central leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), said that in the name of security, Baloch identity has been turned into a symbol of suspicion. She said wherever Baloch people reside whether in Dera Ghazi Khan, Karachi or Balochistan they continue to face systematic state oppression.
She said Baloch civilians in Balochistan are being targeted by drone strikes and aerial operations, while Baloch communities that have lived in Karachi for generations face growing harassment, raids and crackdowns. She said continuous raids and operations are ongoing in Machar Colony, Lyari and other Baloch-populated areas, with many people being forcibly disappeared by the State of Pakistan.
Speaking about BYC’s social media campaign in the context of recent human rights violations in Balochistan, she said the campaign aims to break the silence surrounding these abuses, amplify the voices of affected families and draw attention to enforced disappearances and persecution in Karachi.
She appealed to everyone to join BYC’s campaign and raise their voice against this injustice.
She further said that the right to life is a fundamental right of every human being, calling for an end to enforced disappearances and demanding that security no longer be used as a justification for the oppression and destruction of the Baloch people.
