QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: In a statement issued from Huda Jail, Quetta, dated August 13, 2026, Dr. Mahrang Baloch of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) said Pakistan has ruled over the Baloch people for the past seven decades.
She said the state has tried to maintain its rule over Balochistan by keeping the Baloch population under constant repression but this violent model of governance has now failed and that the cost of this failure is once again being paid by the ordinary Baloch population.
Dr. Baloch said the Baloch genocide is not merely an internal matter of Balochistan but a global humanitarian tragedy. She said that until this genocide and its root causes are addressed, all talk of peace remains mere rhetoric and a denial of reality.
She said that over the past several months, curfews, military operations, enforced disappearances and mass killings have become routine in various parts of Balochistan under the name of security. She said that a large number of these incidents find no place in the state media’s narrative, but that the Baloch people witness these conditions with their own eyes and endure them in their daily lives every day.
“We reject every state policy that endangers the lives of Baloch children, women and ordinary civilians and then dismisses their deaths as mere collateral damage,” she said.
She said that last night’s bombing by Pakistani fighter jets in Sorab killed and injured 27 people, including children.
“If a state considers the massacre of dozens of civilians, including children, in bombings on homes and populated areas to be a routine operation, then this is not a military operation, it is genocide,” she said.
Dr. Baloch said that the people of Sorab blocking roads in protest against this attack, which she described as brutal and oppressive, reflects their determination to protect their lives and property and to not remain silent against the killings.
She appealed to the people of Balochistan to come out of their homes against the Sorab incident and, rather than mourning their dead, to resist. “Our survival lies in resistance alone,” she said.
