SHEFFIELD, UK: Sarang Sindhi, Coordinator of the Europe Chapter of the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh (VMPS), met with Syed Zain Shah Chairman of the Sindh Action Committee, President of the Sindh United Party and grandson of G.M. Syed, regarded as the father of the Sindhi nation at his residence in a Sheffield hotel.
Syed Zain Shah is currently on a tour of Europe to lobby for the cause of Sindh. A day earlier, he attended a reception hosted in his honor by UK Sindhis.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues concerning Sindh and strongly condemned efforts by the Pakistani state to create new provinces, reaffirming their commitment to protecting Sindh’s territorial and historical integrity. They emphasized that Sindh has existed as a distinct homeland for thousands of years and played a historic role in the creation of Pakistan and condemned any attempt by the federal government to divide the province or alter its territorial boundaries.
Sarang Sindhi briefed Syed Zain Shah on the activities of the VMPS Europe Chapter in raising awareness of human rights violations and enforced disappearances in Sindh. He noted that the chapter has organized demonstrations and submitted memoranda on missing persons in London, The Hague, Geneva, Brussels and continues to advocate for victims and their families. He added that VMPS Europe has written to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, urging attention to the human rights situation in Sindh.
Syed Zain Shah acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the VMPS Europe Chapter, expressing his support for its continued struggle. He said the Sindh Action Committee has consistently raised its voice for missing persons in Sindh and remains committed to cooperating with VMPS in the pursuit of their recovery and justice.
The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to human rights, the protection of Sindh’s identity and territorial integrity, and the continued struggle against enforced disappearances and other rights violations.
