KHARAN, Balochistan: Pakistani security forces launched a military operation early Thursday in the Lejje area of Kharan district and its surrounding vicinity, coming under armed attack shortly after the operation began.
Authorities have not released any official details about the operation or the nature of the resistance forces encountered. However, regional sources told reporters that a large contingent of security personnel was seen moving into the area ahead of the clashes.
Residents in and around Lajje reported hearing sustained gunfire and explosions throughout the morning, though the scale of casualties, if any, remains unconfirmed.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack on the forces.
