
KALAT, BALOCHISTAN: A roadside improvised explosive device (IED) exploded near Rodeenjo area on the outskirts of Kalat on Friday, targeting a police convoy, however all personnel and vehicles escaped the blast without any casualties or damage.
According to police sources, three security vehicles were travelling from Kalat to Bencha for squad duty at the time of the explosion. The convoy consisted of one Quick Response Force (QRF) vehicle and two Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF) vehicles.
When the convoy reached the Rodeenjo area, a roadside IED planted near the route detonated close to the passing vehicles. Despite the proximity of the blast, all three vehicles and their personnel remained completely safe.
Following the incident, one ATF vehicle turned back and returned to Kalat while the remaining QRF vehicle and one ATF vehicle continued their journey toward Bencha to complete their assigned duty.
Security forces have launched a search operation in the area following the attack. Further investigations into the incident are also underway, police sources confirmed.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
