QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: A prominent Quetta citizen and sports activist, Noor Ahmed Rind, has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating security situation at Ayub Stadium Quetta, calling on the Balochistan Sports Board and Provincial Minister for Sports Mina Majeed to take immediate action against growing illegal and immoral activities at the facility.
In a recent statement, Noor Ahmed Rind said that the environment at Ayub Stadium is worsening day by day. The stadium, which has long served as a training ground for young athletes, is allegedly turning into a hub for drug addicts, gamblers, drunkards and anti-social elements. Their open presence has made it nearly impossible for athletes, women and ordinary citizens to visit the facility freely.
Rind further revealed that women, elderly citizens and even young girls visiting the stadium for recreation and sports activities are being harassed and subjected to indecent remarks by unruly elements an act he described as deeply shameful and condemnable. As a result, families and senior citizens have stopped visiting the stadium altogether, feeling unsafe and unwelcome.
The statement also highlighted that sports grounds are symbols of discipline and healthy activity, but the current situation at Ayub Stadium is pushing young athletes into frustration and despair. If these negative activities are not stopped immediately, they could pose a serious threat to the future of sports and the younger generation in Balochistan.
Noor Ahmed Rind has urged the Balochistan Sports Board and Minister for Sports Mayor Mina Majeed to take the following steps:
- Implement effective and permanent security arrangements inside and around Ayub Stadium
- Take strict and immediate legal action against those involved in harassment, drug dealing, gambling and other illegal activities
- Restore a safe and peaceful environment for athletes, women and children
Concluding his statement, Rind made it clear that Ayub Stadium is exclusively meant for the development and training of athletes and cannot be allowed to fall prey to unlawful activities. He stressed that the time has come for the relevant authorities to demonstrate immediate and practical measures to address this serious issue.
