
NOSHKI, BALOCHISTAN: Unidentified armed men shot and killed renowned Brahvi language poet and scholar Professor Ghamkhwar Hayat in the Killi Mengal area of Noshki district on Friday. His body was immediately transferred to the Teaching Hospital Noshki following the attack.
According to Local source, Professor Ghamkhwar Hayat was killed by state-backed armed militias commonly referred to as “Death Squads.” Police have launched an investigation into the killing.
The killing has sent shockwaves through literary, academic, and social circles across Balochistan, with scholars and writers describing his death as an irreparable loss to Brahui literature and culture.
Pakistani authorities have not issued any official statement attributing responsibility for the killing.
