QUETTA, BALOCHISTAB: The protest camp organized by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) outside Quetta Press Club continued for the 6,162nd consecutive day on Monday, maintaining its long-standing vigil against enforced disappearances in Balochistan. The camp was led by VBMP Executive Committee member Niyaz Muhammad.

Former Baloch Student Organization (BSO) Chairman Maheem Khan Baloch visited the protest camp and expressed solidarity with the families of missing persons, voicing serious concern over the ongoing enforced disappearances in Balochistan. He demanded the immediate recovery of all missing persons.

The families of Dad Muhammad Marri and Saleh Muhammad Marri also attended the protest. According to family members, the two men were forcibly disappeared by security forces from the Old Bus Terminal in Quetta 14 years ago.

The families said their cases were previously under hearing before the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, however the commission has suspended hearings for the past one year and no information has been provided to the families regarding their loved ones, causing them severe psychological distress.

VBMP Executive Committee member Niyaz Muhammad assured that the organization would contact the commission to resume hearings in the cases of Dad Muhammad Mari and Saleh Muhammad Mari and would raise their cases on every available forum.

He appealed to the government and relevant institutions to ensure the recovery of all missing persons, including Dad Muhammad Marri and Saleh Muhammad Marri and urged that if any charges exist against them, they should be produced before a court of law so that justice can be delivered to the affected families.
