
KHARAN, BALOCHISTAN: Pakistani forces, accompanied by a local state-backed militia, carried out a large-scale operation in the HelmARk area of Kharan in the early hours of May 3, during which two local residents were detained and subsequently disappeared.
According to local sources, the two individuals were identified as Sanaullah, son of Suleman and Akbar, son of Allah Dad, both residents of Helmark.
According to sources, the operation was conducted with a significant deployment of personnel and was described as aggressive in nature.
Sources further stated that the operation was carried out under the guidance of Sufi Mumtaz Sasoli, who is identified as a key figure and head of the state-backed militia locally known as Death Squad operating in the area.
However, according to sources, the operation took a significant turn when Baloch armed groups carried out an IED attack on the forces, in which nearly a dozen personnel were reportedly killed. Following the attack, sources said the forces withdrew hastily from the area.
The whereabouts of the two disappeared men remain unknown at the time of reporting. .
