KABUL/ISLAMABAD: Afghanistan’s Ministry of Higher Education has strongly condemned a missile strike on Syed Jamal ud-Din Afghan University in Kunar province, attributing the attack to Pakistan, as tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border escalated sharply with simultaneous clashes reported in Balochistan and the tribal district of Bajaur.

According to the Afghan ministry, approximately 30 students and faculty members were killed or wounded in the strike, with university buildings sustaining significant structural damage. Earlier, Najibullah Hanif, the head of Kunar’s Department of Information and Culture, had claimed that Pakistani military missile strikes on Monday killed three people and wounded 45 others, the majority of whom were women and children.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information rejected the allegations outright, stating that Pakistan conducts operations based on precision and verified intelligence and categorically denied that any strike was carried out on Syed Jamal ud-Din University.
Separately, clashes between Pakistani and Afghan security forces were reported along the Chaman border in Balochistan. Sources indicate that 11 Pakistani personnel were killed and four wounded in the fighting, with Afghan forces reportedly taking custody of one wounded Pakistani soldier and one body. However, these figures have not been officially confirmed by either government. Civil authorities confirmed that clashes began Monday morning in the Roghani area near Chaman and continued intermittently until midday.
