QUETTA: A student alliance comprising multiple organisations at the University of Balochistan held a protest rally against the prolonged closure of university hostels, demanding their immediate reopening and resolution of student issues.
The protest was part of an ongoing campaign launched by the alliance, which also includes the Baloch Students Organization, Baloch Students Organization Pajar, Pashtoonkhwa Students Organization, and Baloch Students Action Committee.
Participants of the peaceful rally called for the restoration of hostel facilities and urged the university administration to address student concerns at the earliest, stating that academic activities should not be disrupted due to administrative delays.
The student representatives noted that the hostels had remained closed for over three weeks despite the university reopening. They stressed that students were facing significant difficulties due to the lack of accommodation facilities.
In a positive development, the university administration issued a notification on the same day announcing the reopening of hostels. The student alliance welcomed the decision, terming it a constructive step and a result of their collective efforts.
They reiterated that student issues should be resolved through consultation rather than measures that hinder access to education, adding that uninterrupted academic continuity must be ensured for all students.
