QUETTA: An open letter has been issued by a family addressed to the United Nations, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International regarding the alleged enforced disappearance of a student in Balochistan.

According to the letter, Imran Aslam, a student at the University of Balochistan, was reportedly taken during a raid conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on August 27 at a residence in A-One City, Quetta. The family states that he has since been forcibly disappeared, with his whereabouts remaining unknown for over seven months.

The letter further claims that despite repeated efforts, no information has been provided regarding his location, raising concerns that he may be held in undisclosed detention without access to legal representation or contact with his family.

Describing him as a student with no known criminal record, the family states that his continued detention without charge or trial amounts to a violation of constitutional rights and international human rights standards. The letter calls for his whereabouts to be disclosed and for him to be presented before a court if any charges exist.

The document also urges international human rights organizations to take notice of the case and to press the authorities for accountability regarding alleged enforced disappearances in the region.
