
QUETTA: The protest camp established against enforced disappearances in Balochistan by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) entered its 6,090th consecutive day on Thursday.
The camp, set up outside the Quetta Press Club, continued under the leadership of VBMP Executive Committee member Niaz Muhammad.
According to details, individuals from various walks of life visited the protest camp during the day. Participants recorded their protest against enforced disappearances and expressed solidarity with the families of missing persons.
Addressing the participants, Niaz Muhammad stated that enforced disappearances and the extrajudicial killings of previously disappeared Baloch individuals constitute serious violations of national laws and fundamental human rights. He said such actions deserve strong condemnation.
He further urged political parties, student organizations and institutions established for the protection of human rights and the provision of justice to raise their voices against unlawful practices. He emphasized the need for concrete measures to prevent enforced disappearances and to ensure the recovery of missing persons.
Niaz Muhammad also called upon the government and heads of state institutions to immediately end enforced disappearances and alleged extrajudicial killings of missing Baloch individuals. He demanded that all missing persons be recovered, and that those facing accusations be produced before courts of law. He stressed that the issue of enforced disappearances should be addressed strictly within the framework of the country’s constitution and legal system.
