QUETTA: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has stated that seven personnel of the Pakistani military are currently in its custody and has given a one-week deadline for a possible prisoner exchange.
In a statement issued on February 14, 2026, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that during what the group described as “Operation Herof II,” its fighters detained 17 members of Pakistani security forces at various locations.
According to the statement, 10 of those detained were released after an initial review. The group said these individuals were affiliated with local police and Levies forces and were freed with a warning, citing local identity and ground realities as factors in the decision.
The statement said the remaining seven personnel, described as members of regular units of the Pakistani military, remain in BLA custody. It further claimed that they were presented before what the group referred to as a “Baloch National Court,” where they faced allegations including war crimes, actions against civilian populations, involvement in enforced disappearances, and participation in what it termed genocide against the Baloch people.
The BLA stated that during the proceedings, the accused were given an opportunity to present their defense, evidence was submitted, and confessional statements were recorded. It said the court subsequently found them guilty of the charges.
However, the group’s command council announced that, in view of international norms related to armed conflict and prisoner exchanges, it is granting Pakistan a seven-day deadline. During this period, if the state formally agrees to a prisoner exchange, the seven detained soldiers could be exchanged for Baloch prisoners.
The statement added that similar offers had previously been made but did not result in progress.
The BLA said that if no formal and practical steps are taken within one week, the sentences issued by the court would be carried out.
