Oslo/Quetta :Baloch National Movement (BNM) Chairman Dr. Naseem Baloch has strongly condemned the upcoming visit of Pakistan’s former caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti to Norway from February 15–17, describing it as an attempt to whitewash grave human rights violations in occupied Balochistan. Dr. Baloch shared his statement on the social media platform X, urging Norway to scrutinize the officials’ visit and not allow its territory to be used to normalize war criminals.
In his statement, Dr. Baloch highlighted that both Kakar and Bugti are widely responsible for enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, collective punishment, and policies that international human rights observers describe as crimes against humanity and acts of genocide. He also pointed out their documented links to pro-state militias, including Shafeeq Mengal, who has been involved in mass graves, targeted attacks on civilians, and sectarian violence.
Dr. Baloch urged the Norwegian government, parliamentarians, media, and civil society to hold these officials accountable by questioning them about the disappearances, mass graves, and ongoing impunity in Balochistan. He emphasized that Norway, globally respected for its commitment to human rights, international law, and peace-building, must not allow its soil to be used to whitewash atrocities or legitimize perpetrators of crimes against humanity.
“Balochistan does not need propaganda briefings, it needs accountability, international scrutiny, and justice,” Dr. Baloch said. “Diplomatic engagement cannot come at the cost of silence in the face of mass suffering. Norway must stand on the right side of history.”
He further called on Norwegian authorities to engage directly with Baloch victims, families of the disappeared, and independent human rights defenders to gain a truthful understanding of the crisis. Dr. Baloch also urged international organizations and civil society to ensure that Pakistan’s leaders are held responsible for decades of state repression and systematic violations against the Baloch nation.
