Quetta: In a concerning incident on the night of February 5, 2026, Asad Kurd, son of Zafarullah Kurd, reportedly disappeared after being taken into custody by personnel from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and other intelligence agencies around 12:45 a.m. He remains missing to this day.
His sister, Arij Taj Kurd, has urgently appealed to national and international human rights organizations to intervene and ensure her brother’s safe return, calling for an end to the distress his disappearance has caused the family.
It is noteworthy that following the Baloch Liberation Army’s (BLA) “Operation Herof” Phase Two, Pakistani forces launched widespread operations across Balochistan. Today, Pakistani security forces reportedly raided homes in Quetta and other areas, detaining over 100 individuals and transferring them to unknown locations. In addition, internet services across Balochistan remain completely shut down, severely restricting access to information and communication.
This incident underscores ongoing concerns over enforced disappearances in Balochistan, where political activists, social figures, and ordinary citizens have repeatedly been subjected to extrajudicial detentions and disappearances.
Authorities have yet to issue any official statement regarding the incident.
