KECH: One person was killed and another injured in two separate shooting incidents in Turbat and Kharan.
In Turbat, the central city of Kech, a young shopkeeper was killed late last night in Zarat Colony when unknown motorcyclists opened fire. The victim, identified as Shahan, son of Master Saeed, was sitting inside his grocery shop at the time of the attack.
According to eyewitnesses, unidentified individuals riding a motorcycle stopped near the shop, opened fire on Shahan, and fled the scene.
Police reached the site after receiving information, collected evidence, and began an investigation. However, no arrests have been made so far.
Local residents expressed serious concern over the incident, stating that lawlessness in Turbat is continuously increasing, while police and law-enforcement agencies appear unable to control the situation. Citizens said that frequent incidents of targeted killings, shootings, and crime have created a sense of insecurity among the public.
Community members have demanded the immediate arrest of the perpetrators and effective measures to improve law and order in the city so that residents can carry out their daily lives without fear.
It is worth noting that on Wednesday, a shutter-down strike was observed across the Makran Division comprising the districts of Kech, Gwadar and Panjgur against kidnappings for ransom, deteriorating security and what protesters described as the failure of security forces. Businesses and commercial centers remained closed throughout Makran for the entire day.
Meanwhile, in Kharan, a young man named Iqbal Kabdani was seriously injured when unknown armed men opened fire on him on the CPEC Road. The injured man was immediately referred to Quetta for treatment.
The motives behind the attack have not yet been determined.
