Panjgur: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for an attack in Panjgur, saying that 12 personnel of the Pakistani military were killed and six others injured during clashes in the area.

In a statement released by BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch, the group said its fighters targeted Pakistani forces when they were advancing in the Surap area of Panjgur, accompanied by armed groups “death squads.” According to the statement, the forces were attempting to move forward in large numbers, both on foot and in vehicles.

The spokesperson claimed that reinforcements arriving in armored and other vehicles were also engaged by another unit of BLA fighters, forcing them to retreat. The clashes reportedly continued from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, during which, the BLA says, one military vehicle was destroyed and members of allied armed groups also suffered losses.

The BLA stated that it accepts responsibility for the attack and reiterated its commitment to continuing its armed campaign, saying the struggle would persist until what it describes as the freedom of the Baloch people.
