QUETTA: Despite severe cold weather and snowfall in Quetta, the protest camp of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan continued uninterrupted.
The protest camp, led by VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch, has now completed 6,056 days outside the Quetta Press Club. During this period, people from various walks of life visited the camp and expressed solidarity with the families of missing persons.
Relatives of forcibly disappeared individuals Siraj Ahmed and Shahzaib also participated in the protest and recorded their grievances. They submitted details of the enforced disappearances of their loved ones to VBMP.
According to the families, Siraj Ahmed, son of Muhammad Anwar, and Shahzaib, son of Ilahi Bakhsh, were detained by personnel of state institutions from the Sariab Customs area on December 29 last year and were subsequently forcibly disappeared.
The families further complained that when they approached the concerned police station to register an FIR regarding the enforced disappearance of Siraj Ahmed and Shahzaib, the Station House Officer (SHO) refused to register the case, causing distress and hardship for the families.
VBMP reiterated its demand for the safe recovery of all forcibly disappeared persons and called for an end to enforced disappearances in Balochistan.
