QUETTA: The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) has expressed serious concern over the enforced disappearance of Fatima Baloch from Hub Chowki, condemning the incident and calling for her immediate and safe return.
According to VBMP, a complaint received by the organization states that security forces detained Fatima in the early hours of 13 January from her residence in Hub Chowki and shifted her to an undisclosed location. Her family has reportedly not been informed of her whereabouts or the reason for her detention.
VBMP noted that prior to Fatima’s disappearance, her husband, Nawroz Baloch, had also been forcibly disappeared from Hub Chowki on 14 November 2024. He was released after being held in secret custody for 20 days. The organization said that repeatedly targeting members of the same family highlights a worrying pattern of intimidation and retaliation against relatives of previously disappeared persons.
VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said that enforced disappearances, particularly of women, constitute a grave violation of national laws and fundamental human rights. He stated that such actions amount to collective punishment and create an atmosphere of fear and psychological distress among affected families. He condemned the disappearance of Fatima in strong terms.
The VBMP chairman urged the authorities to ensure the immediate recovery of Fatima Baloch and other forcibly disappeared Baloch women. He added that if any allegations exist against them, they should be produced before a court of law and given the right to legal due process instead of being held in secret detention.
