QUETTA: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has stated that 14-year-old student Rahi Issa was shot dead in Hoshap, Kech, in a targeted attack. According to BYC, the incident was carried out by an armed group which is operating under state patronage.
Local sources report that the attack took place in the main market area of Hoshap, where unidentified gunmen opened fire on the teenager, resulting in his death on the spot. The assailants fled immediately after the incident.
The BYC said that Rahi Issa was a student and emphasized that under international law, children are entitled to special protection and cannot be subjected to violence under any circumstances. The committee termed the killing a grave violation of fundamental human rights and international conventions on the rights of the child.
Following the incident, a wave of fear and anxiety has spread through the area. Residents say the killing reflects a continuing pattern of violence in Balochistan. The BYC called on international human rights organizations to demand an impartial investigation, identify those responsible, and ensure legal action, as well as to push for an end to the activities of such armed groups.
