QUETTA: The protest camp against enforced disappearances, organized by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), completed its 6,044th consecutive day outside the Quetta Press Club on Wednesday. The sit-in is being led by VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch.
Relatives of enforcedly disappeared Ghani Baloch and Fareed Baloch participated in the protest and recorded their demonstration, demanding the immediate recovery of their loved ones.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Abdul Qayoom Badini, brother of Ghani Baloch, said his brother was forcibly disappeared on May 27 last year after being taken into custody by security forces in Khuzdar while traveling from Quetta to Karachi on an Al-Muneer coach.
He said the family has repeatedly approached constitutional institutions and relevant forums for the recovery of Ghani Baloch, but so far no institution has provided justice in accordance with the country’s laws. He added that the prolonged absence of any legal relief has caused severe mental distress to the family.
The protesters reiterated their demand for an end to enforced disappearances in Balochistan and called for the immediate release of all forcibly disappeared persons.
