Quetta: A senior leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and human rights activist Seema Baloch has called on the public to unite and raise their voices against enforced disappearances in Balochistan, following the launch of a five-day campaign against the forcible disappearance of women.
Speaking in a recorded video message after the announcement of the campaign, Seema Baloch said that suffering has become a constant part of life for the Baloch people. “Every day our youth are forcibly disappeared. Enforced disappearances in Balochistan are increasing with each passing day. For years, our young people have been missing,” she said.
She stated that there has been no information about Shabbir Baloch, who remains forcibly disappeared, just like many others including Chairman Zahid, Asad Baloch, Zakir Majeed and Dr. Deen Mohammad, who have been missing for several years. “Thousands of our youth are missing across Balochistan. No one knows where they are or what kind of torture they are being subjected to,” she added.
Seema Baloch further said that the enforced disappearance of women has become a deeply alarming trend. She cited the case of Zareena Marri, who was forcibly disappeared along with her young daughter. Since then, incidents of enforced disappearance of women have continued. She noted that Mahjabeen has been missing for seven months, Nasreena for over a month, while there is still no information about Farzana Zehri, Raheema, and two women from Hub Chowki, Hani and Hir-un-Nisa, whose families continue to suffer immense anguish.
Calling for collective resistance, Seema Baloch urged people to stand together against what she described as a state policy of enforced disappearances. “The state wants to silence us and erase our identity through this policy. Before that happens, we must unite and raise our voices for the safe recovery of our disappeared brothers and sisters,” she said.
She also announced that the Baloch Yakjehti Committee has launched a five-day campaign, urging people to actively participate, amplify the campaign, and support it by signing the online petition.
