In Quetta’s Killi Qamberani area, affected families held a press conference at Quetta Press Club on Thursday, demanding the immediate recovery of young students who have been forcibly disappeared.
Samrosh Baloch, along with the families of other missing persons, told journalists that a few months ago, Pakistani security forces raided their homes and took six young students and so far, no information has been provided about their whereabouts or condition. She said that the frequent raids, harassment and enforced disappearances have made life unbearable for the families.
She added that for several years, people have been living in fear and distress due to state repression and unannounced raids. According to Samrosh Baloch, her uncle Fazal Rehman Qamberani and maternal uncle Zia Rehman Qamberani were also subjected to enforced disappearances twice and were later released.
The families reported that on the night of December 6, from 9 PM to 1 AM, a search operation was conducted in the area, during which homes were searched, but no prohibited or illegal items were found in any house.
According to the families, in October, six young students including HairByar Baloch, Afzal Baloch, Baber Qamberani, Noor Muhammad and Hamal Qamberani were forcibly disappeared and their presence has not been acknowledged in any court or official institution.
Finally, the families demanded that the government and senior authorities immediately release the young students and stop the ongoing raids so that people can live in peace.
