QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The protest camp of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances continued outside the Quetta Press Club for the 6,313th straight day on Friday, with families of the missing once again gathering to demand answers.

Among those who joined the sit-in was Jumma Khan Nechari, whose wife, daughter, and granddaughter went missing just days ago. He told the gathering that his wife, Bibi Rafia, his daughter, Bibi Tania and his granddaughter, Javeria, were traveling from Kalat to Quetta on July 30 when their vehicle was stopped at the FC checkpoint at Lak Pass. Personnel from national security agencies pulled the three women out of the vehicle at around 3 pm and took them away, he said nothing has been heard from them since.

Nechari said he has since gone from office to office trying to get answers, including filing complaints with the CCPO, but has been met with silence. He described the toll it’s taking on his family as unbearable, saying the uncertainty has left everyone at home consumed by fear and grief.

VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch, addressing Nechari directly at the camp, promised the organization would take up the case before the government, the Commission on Missing Persons and every legal and constitutional forum available and push for the family’s safe return.

He said it was nothing less than the constitutional and moral duty of the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court and the Chief Minister to personally take notice of a case involving three women from one family a grandmother, mother and child vanishing together and to ensure a transparent, urgent investigation into their recovery.
