Jamshoro: The Jeay Sindh Student Federation (JSF) organized a long march from the shrine of Shah Abdul Latif in Bhit Shah to Sindh University, Jamshoro, protesting the military’s alleged takeover of Sindh lands and resources and raising grievances about student issues in educational institutions. The march, organized by the JSF central leadership, set off amid mounting tension between protesters and state agencies.
Marchers chanted slogans demanding Sindhudesh’s freedom and accused Punjab-backed forces of seizing Sindh’s lands and mineral wealth. “Sindh’s lands and resources are being occupied in the name of Pakistan,” demonstrators said, adding that the seizure of their homeland by external forces has left them no option but to seek independence.
According to participants, the rally was halted by police soon after it began. When demonstrators refused to disperse, law-enforcement reinforcements were summoned from neighboring districts. On the second day, as the march reached Matiari city, a large police contingent reportedly baton-charged the students and detained several JSF leaders including prominent female organizers. The detainees were later held at Tando Allah yar before being released.
JSF organizers said the protest aimed to highlight longstanding complaints about military encroachment on Sindhi territory, the exploitation of local resources and issues affecting students in universities and colleges.
