QUETTA: The United Baloch Army (UBA) on Tuesday released a detailed statement claiming control of Bhag Nari city in Balochistan’s Kachhi district.
According to the UBA press release, its fighters entered Bhag Nari on the evening of October 27, around 4:30 p.m., and launched coordinated attacks on several government installations. The group said its fighters set up checkpoints at the town’s entry points before targeting the police station, NADRA office, Levies post, tehsildar office, and a branch of the National Bank.
During the siege of the police station, the UBA claimed that its fighters warned police personnel not to retaliate, emphasizing that those identified as Baloch would not be harmed. However, according to the group, some officers opened fire, prompting the fighters to respond in self-defence. The UBA stated that three police personnel, including Station House Officer (SHO) Lutf Ali, were killed and three others injured in the ensuing clashes. The statement further claimed that 11 detainees were freed from the Levies post, weapons were seized, and the Levies building, the tehsildar office, and the bank branch were set ablaze.
The UBA said that after maintaining control of the town for several hours, its fighters began withdrawing but came under attack from a large contingent of Frontier Corps (FC) personnel surrounding the area. The group claimed that three FC soldiers were killed and several others were injured during an hour-long gun battle. One of its fighters, Sangat Sahab Khan Bangalzai, also known as Shaukat, was reportedly killed while covering his comrades’ retreat.
The organization paid tribute to Bangalzai, describing him as a “brave and intelligent guerrilla” who joined the UBA in 2024 and played a key role in intelligence gathering and local defense operations.
In its statement, the UBA warned police and Levies officials to “refrain from anti-Baloch activities,” vowing that such operations would continue until the establishment of an independent Balochistan.
