Family Marks Two Months of Silence Over Enforced Disappearance of Mir Yousaf Qalandrani

Khuzdar: The family of Mir Yousaf Qalandrani has marked two months since his enforced disappearance, expressing deep frustration over the continued silence of the authorities regarding his whereabouts.

In a statement shared with media, a family member said that despite repeated appeals and inquiries during the past two months, they have received no response or explanation about why Yousaf was taken or where he is being held.

“For two months, we have been asking the same questions: Where is Yousaf? Why was he taken? What was his crime? But all we have received in return is silence,” the family member said.

Expressing anguish over the lack of accountability, said that, “Instead of questioning the state again, I would now ask that the constitution be amended to openly state: ‘The state has the right to forcibly disappear any citizen and is not answerable to anyone.’ Perhaps then families like ours will stop believing that justice exists in this country and be freed from the torment of wondering where our loved ones are and why they were taken.”

The family has appealed once again for Yousaf’s safe recovery and called on human rights organizations to take urgent notice of his disappearance.
