Quetta: The protest camp of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) continued for the 5,964th consecutive day on Friday outside the Quetta Press Club, led by Ghulam Fareed, the son of the missing person Ali Asghar.
Speaking to the media, Ghulam Fareed said that 24 years have passed since the enforced disappearance of his father, yet their peaceful and constitutional struggle for his safe recovery continues. He said that despite approaching state institutions and successive governments, no justice has been provided, raising serious questions about the role of state authorities.
Ghulam Fareed added that the long years of disappearance and fruitless struggle have left his family mentally distressed and paralyzed. He said families of the missing are forced to live every moment in pain and uncertainty over the fate of their loved ones.
He appealed to the government and state institutions to address the issue of missing persons on humanitarian grounds, demanding the safe recovery of his father, Ali Asghar, and all other forcibly disappeared individuals.
“If they are no longer alive,” he said, “then at least the truth about their fate should be revealed so that families can be freed from this endless agony.”
