Quetta: The Baloch Students Organization–Azad (BSO-Azad) has said that despite keeping its former Information Secretary, Shabir Baloch, in torture cells for the past nine years, the Pakistani state has failed to break his spirit or suppress his political ideology.
In a statement issued on the ninth anniversary of Shabir’s enforced disappearance, the BSO-Azad spokesperson said Shabir Baloch was abducted on October 4, 2016, by Pakistani forces from Kech district and has since remained in secret detention. “Shabir’s only ‘crime’ was being a conscious and visionary student leader who guided Baloch youth towards resistance against national subjugation through peaceful political struggle,” the spokesperson said.
The organization emphasized that history proves every oppressed nation, before achieving freedom, has endured brutal repression but responded with steadfast resistance. “The Baloch nation too is walking the same historical path, despite torture cells, mutilated bodiesm and endless disappearances, the struggle for freedom continues,” the statement read.
The spokesperson added that instead of weakening the organization, Shabir’s disappearance has strengthened BSO-Azad ideologically and politically. “His comrades continue his mission, ensuring that his vision lives on. Shabir remains a symbol of resistance whose courage lights the way for Baloch youth.”
BSO-Azad urged Baloch students and youth to draw inspiration from Shabir Baloch’s sacrifices, raise awareness about his struggle, and fulfill their national responsibilities by carrying forward the movement.
