In Quetta, the court handed over Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other activists of the Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC) to police custody for another 15 days. A large number of people were present outside the court and raised slogans in their support.
Speaking to the Media Dr. Mahrang Baloch said that the BYC leadership has been kept in jail to create fear among the people, but “we will prove that no movement can be ended by prisons or repression.”
She added, “The strength of this movement has always been the people. We began this struggle on the streets and today we have brought it into the courts.”
Dr. Mahrang further said: “We want to show that these very courts, where thousands of cases of Baloch, Pashtun and Sindhi missing persons are pending, have failed to recover them despite orders. But the same courts are running terrorism cases against BYC political activists for blocking roads.”
It is worth mentioning that BYC leaders were taken into custody in March 2025 during protest demonstrations. They were charged under 3 MPO (Maintenance of Public Order) and sections of anti-terrorism laws.
