The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for an attack in Panjgoor, stating that its fighters killed four members of a state-backed “death squad” affiliated with Pakistani military and intelligence agencies.
According to BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch, the attack was carried out on Tuesday night in the Sordo area of Panjgoor, where BLA fighters raided a compound, killing Ghulam Sarwar (the squad’s leader), his son Islam Sarwar, Nizam son of Ghulam Sarwar (resident of Panjgoor) and Habibullah son of Shah Muhammad (resident of Gresha, Khuzdar).
The spokesperson alleged that Ghulam Sarwar formed and led the death squad under the patronage of the Pakistani military, which had been active in Panjgoor and Gichk regions for years. After him, his son Islam Sarwar had been leading the group. The BLA accused the squad of involvement in targeted killings, enforced disappearances and direct support for military operations, as well as criminal activities such as drug trafficking, kidnappings for ransom and extortion, allegedly with military approval.
During the raid, BLA fighters reportedly seized three Kalashnikov rifles, one M-4 rifle, other weapons, two vehicles and three motorcycles from the compound. The group also claimed the site had been used as a torture cell, where instruments for electric shocks and other torture methods were discovered.
The spokesperson further stated that Islam Sarwar was directly involved in the abduction and subsequent killing of a youth, Zeeshan Zaheer, two months ago in Panjgoor. The BLA said that more individuals involved in such killings have been identified and would be “brought to the same fate.”
