Protest Held in Quetta Against Enforced Disappearance of Ghani Baloch

Quetta: A protest was held outside the Quetta Press Club to mark two months since the enforced disappearance of Ghani Baloch. Family members, political activists, civil society representatives and members of various organizations participated in the demonstration, calling for his immediate release.

Protesters held placards and banners demanding an end to enforced disappearances, the safe recovery of Ghani Baloch and other missing persons, and a halt to what they described as unlawful detentions.

Participants included Ghani Baloch’s family, senior and zonal leaders of the National Democratic Party, members of the Baloch Women Forum, families of other missing persons including Farooq and Aziz Jamal, Chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) Nasrullah Baloch, civil society activists and political and social workers from various backgrounds.

Ghani Baloch, a scholar and political leader affiliated with the National Democratic Party, was reportedly taken into custody by security forces on May 25. Since then, there has been no official information regarding his whereabouts.

The demonstrators urged authorities to ensure the immediate recovery of Ghani Baloch and all other forcibly disappeared individuals. They also called for an end to the ongoing practice of enforced disappearances in the region.
