5882nd Day of VBMP Protest Camp, Unconditional Release of BYC Leaders Demanded

Quetta: The protest camp set up by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan marked its 5882nd consecutive day today. The camp, located outside the Quetta Press Club, was led by VBMP Executive Committee member Niaz Muhammad Nechari.

In a statement, VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch highlighted that the families of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Shah Jee Sibghatullah, Bibarg Baloch, Gul Zadi, Beebow Baloch, Ghaffar Baloch, and Imran Baloch are continuing their protest for the second consecutive day outside the National Press Club in Islamabad, demanding the release of their loved ones.

Protesting women at the site reported that Islamabad authorities are subjecting them to various forms of harassment in an apparent attempt to silence their peaceful demonstration.

Nasrullah Baloch strongly condemned the harassment, stating:

“Harassing women peacefully protesting outside the National Press Club is an attempt to stifle freedom of expression and peaceful dissent. This is unacceptable.”

He urged the federal government to take immediate notice of the situation, engage in meaningful dialogue with the protesting families, and ensure the unconditional release of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other detained leaders of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).

VBMP also demanded the recovery of missing persons and called for the issue of enforced disappearances to be resolved in accordance with the country’s laws and constitution.
