Prominent Baloch National Movement (BNM) leader and former BSO Secretary General Mir Safeer Baloch has strongly condemned the re-arrest of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) organizers in what he describes as false and baseless cases, calling it a clear sign of state panic and judicial bias.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Mir Safeer Baloch said the renewed detention of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sibgatullah Shah Jee, Bibgar Baloch, Ghaffar Baloch, Gulzadi and Beebow Baloch even after the expiry of their 3MPO (Maintenance of Public Order) detention exposes the state’s desperation and its use of courts as tools for repression.
He criticized the Anti-Terrorism Court’s decision to hand over BYC leaders to police custody for an additional 10 days, describing it as an attempt to prolong the imprisonment of voices speaking out against state oppression. He noted that the timing of their arrest, on the very day a judicial review board was expected to meet, shows deliberate interference and a lack of judicial independence.
“The revival of police remand and fake terrorism charges after the lapse of 3MPO is a sign that the state has lost control of its narrative,” said Mir Safeer. “These tactics neither break the spirit of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and her companions nor diminish their influence among the Baloch people.”
He further stated that no form of state repression, legal or illegal can undermine the resolve of the Baloch leadership or weaken their bond with the nation.
