Three Months Since My Father’s Enforced Disappearance, We Will Not Step Back from Political Resistance. Dr. Sabhia Baloch

Dr. Sabhia Baloch, a leading figure of the Baloch Yekjehti Committee and a well-known political activist, has issued a statement marking the completion of three months since the enforced disappearance of her father, Mir Bashir Ahmed.

According to Dr. Sabhia, on April 5, 2025, her father was summoned by SP Hub, Syed Fazal Bukhari. Without hesitation, her father complied for he was not a criminal. However, upon arrival, he was informed that he could not return home unless Dr. Sabhia either resigned from the Baloch Yekjehti Committee or surrendered herself to the authorities.

She stated, “This is not only illegal, but deeply immoral, inhumane, and a gross abuse of power. Those who take pride in such repression must remember: power is temporary, but the stain of injustice is permanent.”

Dr. Sabhia added, “On that day, Fazal Bukhari acted not as a guardian of the law, but as a kidnapper. My father’s only ‘crime’ is being related to me a daughter who chose peaceful resistance over silence. I am only 28, yet I have seen with my own eyes how oppression eventually crushes itself under its own weight.”

Reflecting on the spiritual lessons of Ashura, she said, “I pray that those who commit injustices and those who defend them, are held accountable not only in this world but in the hereafter. They will soon witness how arrogance crumbles under the weight of tyranny’s fall.”

She further said, “Look to history see what became of those who harmed the Baloch. Some were disgraced, some drowned in addiction, some swallowed by betrayal, and others met the noose. They all perished in the intoxication of power but were buried in dishonor.”

Dr. Sabhia emphasized that the struggle against oppression never dies, for it is rooted in truth and moral principles. “No matter how powerful the tyrant may seem, their greed becomes their greatest weakness. The faint voice of the oppressed becomes a storm in time, and one day, this tyranny will surely collapse — for such is the law of nature and the heartbeat of revolution. No one escapes it.”

It should be noted that during the crackdown on the Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC) by the Balochistan government, Dr. Sabhia’s father was taken into custody after being summoned, and a condition was placed: that his daughter resign from the BYC and surrender herself.

During the same crackdown, BYC leaders Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Bebarg Zehri, and Beebow Baloch were arrested under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3 MPO), while Shah Ji Sabghtullah and Gulzadi Baloch were forcibly disappeared from their homes.

The leadership of BYC has remained imprisoned in Huda Jail for over three months, and even after the completion of their MPO sentences, they have not been released.

The BYC has stated that the provincial government, under the influence of security forces, is using illegal tactics to suppress their peaceful political movement. The continued detention of leaders and the enforced disappearance of Dr. Sabhia’s father are part of a deliberate attempt to silence the movement.

In conclusion, Dr. Sabhia Baloch has appealed to the United Nations and international human rights organizations to hold the Pakistani state accountable for these unlawful actions and to support the right to peaceful political resistance.
