In Tump Tehsil of Kech district, public protests against theft, robbery, and rising lawlessness continued for a second consecutive day. In response to a call by the Traders Association, civil society, political parties, and local residents, a complete shutter-down strike was observed, causing a total halt in commercial activity and leaving marketplaces deserted.
During the strike, a protest rally was also held, which passed through various routes and reached the Levies and Police Stations in Tump. Protesters staged a sit-in outside the stations and raised slogans against the deteriorating law and order situation.
Protesters said that incidents of theft, robbery, and street crime have become a daily occurrence in Tump. Not only are homes and shops being looted, but even livestock is being stolen, leaving the public in severe psychological distress and a constant sense of insecurity.
Later, negotiations were held between Tump Municipal Committee Chairman Amin Qureshi, Levies SHO Naseer Gichki, and leaders of the Traders Association Seth Akhtar Umar, Seth Yaseen Askani, and Raheem Malik Miro.
As a result of the talks, it was decided that on Monday, a representative delegation of traders and civil society from Tump will meet with the Deputy Commissioner and the SSP Police. The next course of action will be announced following that meeting.
Meanwhile, citizens and the business community have urged higher authorities to take immediate notice and implement effective measures to restore peace and security in the region.
