Family members of Safaullah, son of Mola Bakhsh, held a protest demonstration outside the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Kech district, demanding justice over his alleged custodial killing.
According to the protestors, Safaullah was forcibly detained by Pakistani forces on May 20. However, on May 29, an FIR was suddenly registered, falsely claiming that he had been killed in an alleged armed encounter, a claim the family strongly refutes as fabricated and unjust.
The demonstration drew a large number of people, including women and children, who staged a sit-in at the main gate of the DC office. Protesters asserted that Safaullah was killed while in custody, and the false encounter narrative is being used to cover up the extrajudicial killing.
The protesters also raised concern about another youth, Shah Jehan, who was allegedly forcibly disappeared on May 14 and remains missing. They demanded his immediate release and called for an impartial investigation into Safaullah’s death.
The family and demonstrators appealed to higher authorities, human rights organizations, and the judiciary to take immediate notice of the situation and take practical steps to end enforced disappearances and recover missing persons.
