Balochistan: Paank, the human rights organization of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), has strongly condemned the extrajudicial killing of police officer Sagheer Ahmed, a resident of Gwarjak, Mashkay, stating that he was brutally shot dead by a state-backed death squad in Shereki, Awaran, on May 30, 2025.
In a statement, Paank described the killing as part of a wider campaign of state repression and targeted violence in Awaran. The group noted that this latest incident follows a string of alarming acts of violence allegedly carried out by Pakistani security forces and their proxies.
On May 26 and 27, during a military operation in Malaar Machi, Naeem Baloch and his aunt Hoori were reportedly killed, while Dadi Baloch sustained critical injuries and was allegedly denied medical treatment.
Earlier, on May 24, journalist Abdul Latif Baloch was shot and killed inside his home. On May 27, the tortured body of Ghaus Bakhsh was discovered after he was summoned to a military camp in Kolwah Awaran.
Paank further claimed that it has received credible information indicating the existence of a so-called “killing list” containing the names of more than 50 individuals feared to be targeted next. According to the organization, this reflects a systematic and state-sponsored campaign of terror in Balochistan.
Calling on the United Nations and international human rights organizations, Paank urged independent investigations into the situation and demanded that Pakistan be held accountable for these alleged atrocities.
In conclusion, Paank reaffirmed its solidarity with the victims’ families and strongly demanded an immediate end to the violence and repression in Balochistan.
