Karachi: The family of two brothers, Shiraz Baloch and Selan Baloch, who were forcibly disappeared from the Tekri Village area of Maripur, Karachi, has demanded that if there are any charges against them, they should be presented before a court of law.
During a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday, their sister Gulsada Baloch strongly protested the disappearance, stating that both brothers were illegally detained by CTD (Counter-Terrorism Department) personnel on the night of May 23, 2025, and have been missing since.
Gulsada Baloch revealed that Shiraz Baloch suffers from a serious leg condition, has undergone two surgeries, and was awaiting a third. She expressed concern that he is being denied essential medical care. “Both brothers come from a working-class background and were supporting their family through daily labor,” she said.
She questioned the legality of the arrests, stating, “If there are any allegations against my brothers, they should be presented before a court. This kind of enforced disappearance is unacceptable in any democratic and constitutional society. We were not given any arrest warrant, nor allowed to seek legal recourse. We are living in constant agony and fear.”
Gulsada appealed to senior authorities, the judiciary, human rights organizations, and civil society to ensure the immediate recovery of her brothers so that the family can live in peace. “We are raising our voice peacefully for our constitutional rights and hope that justice will prevail,” she added.
Other relatives of the disappeared also attended the press conference, calling on human rights groups to speak out against this alleged injustice and pressure government institutions to secure the safe return of the two brothers.
