Kech: Family of Enforcedly Disappeared Student Adnan Baloch Calls for Immediate Release

Turbat, Balochistan – A family from the Bug area of Kech district held an emergency press conference at the Turbat Press Club, raising their voice against ongoing state repression and enforced disappearances. Speaking alongside dozens of women, Hani Baloch said that her family has been subjected to continuous state violence since 2013.

Hani Baloch stated that Pakistani forces have repeatedly raided their home, harassed female members of the household, and abducted young men. She recalled a 2014 incident in which five members of her family were abducted and subjected to brutal torture for two weeks before being released in a near-dead condition.

She further added that in 2017, her elder brother Iqbal Baloch was forcibly disappeared and released after 14 months of severe mental and physical torture. He was later forced to seek medical treatment abroad in Dubai to survive the trauma.

During the press conference, Hani revealed that her younger brother, Jiand Baloch also known as Adnan, a law student at Turbat University, was abducted by Pakistani forces during a raid on their home the previous night. She described Adnan as a hardworking, non-political student focused solely on his education.

Hani Baloch alleged that her family is being targeted solely because her elder brother, Nasir Baloch, is a senior leader of the Baloch National Movement (BNM). “If the state sees Jiand as guilty simply due to his familial ties, then he should be presented before a court, not abducted through illegal raids,” she said.

Concluding the press conference, Hani Baloch demanded that Jiand Baloch be released and presented in court within three days. Otherwise, she warned, the family would be forced to launch an indefinite protest and sit-in.
