Dismissal of BYC Leaders’ Constitutional Petition Reveals Judicial Bias. NDP

The central spokesperson of the National Democratic Party (NDP) has issued a statement condemning the continued detention of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, head of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), along with Sibghatullah Shah Ji, Beebow Baloch, Gul Zadi Baloch, Bebarg Baloch, and others under fabricated charges. The statement declared these arrests not only a violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights but also a severe breach of Pakistan’s own constitution and laws.

The NDP emphasized that the state’s fundamental duty is to ensure justice and freedom of expression for all citizens in accordance with its constitution. A society free from oppression can only be built under the rule of law. However, when the very institutions of the state violate these principles, unrest and injustice inevitably follow.

The spokesperson criticized the judiciary for failing in its responsibility to uphold justice in the BYC case. The rejection of the constitutional petition by BYC leaders, under what appears to be the pretext of “doctrine of necessity,” clearly demonstrates judicial bias and helplessness, they said. The baseless charges and denial of their right to legal recourse exemplify systemic oppression and expose the judiciary’s weakness in the face of state injustice.

Referring to recent remarks made by the DG ISPR, the NDP condemned the accusation that BYC and Dr. Mahrang Baloch are proxies for a foreign country. The party labeled such claims as unfounded and an insult to the Baloch people who are merely demanding their constitutional rights. “These tactics cannot weaken the political struggle of Baloch activists,” the spokesperson said. “Rather, they expose the unsustainability of a repressive system.”

The NDP further called for full freedom of expression and democratic participation for every individual in Balochistan, urging state institutions to abandon outdated practices of repression. The spokesperson pointed out that there is a long history of the state labeling legitimate rights activists as foreign agents or traitorsn an approach that is undemocratic and inappropriate.

In conclusion, the NDP demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and all other arrested political workers affiliated with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee.
