A protest rally was held in Turbat today on the central call of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), drawing large participation from women, children, and activists. The rally aimed to raise its voice against the arrest of BYC leaders, enforced disappearances of youth, and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan.
The rally began at Advocate Road, passed through Cinema Chowk, and concluded at Shaheed Fida Chowk, where it turned into a sit-in protest. Demonstrators carried placards and banners demanding the release of Baloch leaders and the restoration of human rights.
Protesters condemned the arrest of BYC organizer Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other central leaders Beebow Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, Sibghatullah Shah Jee, and Bibgar Baloch, calling their detention unconstitutional. They also criticized the judiciary, stating that it was no longer independent but under the influence of state institutions.
Speakers expressed concern that the detained leaders have been held without any formal charges and their custody is being extended each month under repressive laws such as the Maintenance of Public Order (3 MPO). They declared this a blatant violation of the constitutional right to personal freedom.
Protesters urged the United Nations, international human rights organizations, and civil society to take immediate notice of the illegal arrests of Baloch leaders and ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan.
Speakers voiced deep concern over the continued enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the use of fake encounters to eliminate missing persons. They warned that if such policies persist, the situation in the region could deteriorate further.
