The Baloch National Movement (BNM) launched a coordinated awareness campaign across various cities in the United Kingdom, aimed at highlighting the ongoing freedom movement in Balochistan, the severe human rights violations, and state repression. The campaign sought to inform the British public and international community about enforced disappearances, torture of political activists, and other atrocities taking place in Balochistan.
The campaign began on April 17 at the famous Trafalgar Square in London, followed by Oxford City Centre on April 19, King’s Parade in Cambridge on April 21, Buchanan Street in Glasgow on April 25, and concluded in Manchester on April 27. BNM activists distributed over 5,000 informational pamphlets at these locations and engaged directly with passersby to raise awareness about the current situation in Balochistan.
According to the organization, the campaign was not only an effort to expose the oppression faced by the people of Balochistan but also a serious attempt to bring these issues to the attention of the international community and urge global institutions to focus on the region’s plight.
A key focus of the campaign was the recent state-led crackdown on leaders of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), who were allegedly detained illegally, subjected to psychological and physical torture, and charged with fabricated cases. This issue was a central theme of the campaign, as BNM aimed to draw international attention and support for justice.
